sarah + brent = the wedding

hello all,

sorry its been so late between posts. its been an insane week.. we just moved out of our home :(, and its been a bit crazy trying to find stuff and all of the packing/unpacking. we sold it a few weeks back and we have 6 months before we move into our new house which is currently being built. they have the basement in and i'll be posting progess pictures later on.

anyway, here are some of my favorite images from sarah and brents wedding that i did on october 20th at the delta hotel in ottawa. these guys were so much fun to shoot, sarah was so adventureous and willing to trash her beautiful dress to get the shot. i hope you guys had fun and i hope you enjoy these images forever.

diane + mark = lifestyle engagement

hello all,

early last sunday morning i had the pleasure of shooting diane and mark's engagement pictures. diane and mark have found this awesome 'top secret' lookout in gatineau park where the view is just amazing. when they told me they wanted to shoot the engagement pics there i was sold, especially with all this awesome fall color. anyway it was a beautiful morning and i think we grabbed some amazing shots!!

this past friday i hooked up with monique and whitney to shoot thier engagement photos. we headed out to the ottawa airport for the shoot, thats where whitney proposed to monique, so what better place to do it.

lindsay + jacques = lifestyle engagement

my first 'wedding free' weekend in quite some time.. its been an awesome summer and i have met so many new people and had the pleasure of shooting so many beautiful weddings. as fall is rolling and the wedding season is starting to slow down i continue to keep busy shooting engagement sessions for my 2008 wedding couples. last sunday i met lindsay and jacques, they are both from calgary and are getting married in ottawa next year at the rockcliffe park pavillion. they were in-town last week to go over and finalize wedding plans so we decided to have an engagement shoot.

here are a few of my favorites from the shoot. i hope you guys had fun and cannot wait to see you again next summer.

stacey + carl = wedding slideshow

hello again,

what a beautiful fall wedding stacey and carl had this past saturday. the wedding ceremony was held at the rideau park united church here in ottawa. after the ceremony we headed down to take some pictures inside the museum of civilization. when we arrived we were greeted with a little break from the rain and were able to get some amazing pics outside. the reception was held at the yangtze restaurant down on somerset. what a dining experience, the food was unbelievable and the decor was beautiful, chantale and i will be going back for sure.

stacey is from winnipeg manitoba, carl and herself are heading out that way to have another reception to celebrate. i wish we were able to attend to do it all over again. it was great meeting you both and to be part of your special day.

hello all,

once again i have changed the look of www.derrickrice.com. i have updated the new site with recent images and also have most of the slideshows from this past year posted on the wedding page. it is not yet 100% complete as i need to add more images, it should be all finished by next week. please have a look around and let me know what you think. i have tried to make it more user friendly by automating slideshows and easier image navigation.

krista + mike = wedding slideshow

my first friday wedding!!

it was nice to shoot a wedding on a friday because i then was able to take a saturday off, the first one in awhile. anyway krista and mike had a beautiful wedding at the west carleton meetings, wedddings and banquet hall. it was a great event that i am very proud to be a part of. krista and mike are now enjoying a honeymoon in vegas, i hope you guys find a interenet cafe so you can catch the slideshow before you get back home. all the best and thank you, your friends and family for having me.

a night of luxury

hello all,

after shooting krista + mike's wedding on friday (slideshow to be posted thursday night) i surprised chantale with a little getaway to mt. tremblant. saturday morning we woke up early and took the 2 hour scenic drive. we had reservations at fairmont trembant which i must say is well worth the money. the service is unbelievable, you are taken care of as soon as you pull the car into the valet.

after we settled in to our room we took the gondola up to the summit to take in the view and hike around a little.. as usual the winds were howling and we were not properly dressed so we took a few quick snaps and headed back down to relax pool side. the fairmont has awesome pools and hot tubs, we pretty much spent the whole afternoon relaxing and enjoying the luxury of the 5 star hotel.

after our soak we relaxed in our room before heading out to dinner at the windigo restaurant that is inside the fairmont. the food was amazing, a crazy surf & turf buffet with lobster, scallops, shrimps...and some great wine and cheese.

after 10 saturdays straight of shooting weddings it was nice to spend some nice quiet time with chantale, we had a blast and i think its important to take some time for yourself and spend it with your loved ones. sometimes we get too involved in our work and time passes us by, take a day off and spoil yourself, its well worth it!!

i didn't spend too much time shooting but here are a few shots that i did get.
